The Impact of AI and why I’m removing my content

I’ve regretfully made the decision to remove my artwork from my website and social media accounts to better protect it from being used without my permission, particularly in the training of artificial intelligence systems. This choice comes in light of several heartbreaking stories from fellow creators whose work has been taken and profited from without their consent. Recently, I’ve also noticed an unusual increase in traffic to my website despite not doing any promotion, which has raised concerns about how my work may be accessed and used. As an artist, my creations are deeply personal and represent countless hours of effort. I believe it’s important to have a say in how they’re used. This step is about preserving the integrity of my work and ensuring it isn’t repurposed without my consent. Thank you for your understanding and continued support. If you’d like to reach out you can still do so via the contact page.

“Generative AI has the potential to augment artists’ creative expression, while simultaneously harming their professions through unethical data collection practices and replacement of human labor. We conducted a thematic analysis of social media posts to understand artists’ perceptions and experiences of the direct and indirect impact of generative AI on their profession. Our findings also highlight growing public distrust toward artists amidst the rise of generative AI, with accusations of using AI tools leading to stress and fear of unemployment. Our study provides valuable insights into the complex interplay between artists, generative AI, and the public. We discuss potential protective measures for artists, including regulatory interventions and opt-in/out data collection, and explore future impacts of generative AI on artists’ creative processes.”

The Impact of Generative AI on Artists by Reishiro Kawakami and Sukrit Venkatagiri

One of the aspects of form that I have been very interested in is stasis - the concept of form which is not so directional in time, not so much climactic form, but rather form which allows time, to stand still.
